It took me a week to realize that my exams have finally ended. Not that I'm unhappy about it. But in some remote corner of my heart, I did feel pangs of guilt for all those books which still have the smell of fresh paper concealed within the pages. So to console myself, I bought a few story books to read (and smell).
So the first book that I bought was Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol - the international bestseller which I've been so desperate to read for the last couple of months but didn't get the opportunity or parental monetary allowance to buy. But now that I have, it has become something like a pair of spectacles which always stays right in front of my eyes, all day, no matter what.
The second book that I bought was Frederick Forsyth's The Cobra - another international bestseller which I've been itching to read for a long long long ... (10 times more) time.
Now wait! This was just a dry run. I'm going to buy more books next week. A trip to the Crossword Bookstore or Oxford Bookstore in Park Street is the awaited plan. And moreover, the money for both the above books were contributed by my generous sister whose heart melts to know that I haven't read a single book other than my Physics, math, and chemistry books for the last two years (a blatant lie actually.).
Here are the list of books that I plan to buy. The last two books are in a more or less un-confirmed stage.
I'm sure that my final choices will vary on the day I visit the bookstore. Because, whenever I visit a bookstore I feel an urge to buy the entire bookstore itself.
Oh yeah! As usual, I'd really appreciate it if you could suggest some books to my reading list. Maybe just hit me up with your favorite book (no fairy tales or obvious ones like Harry Potter). I don't have too many friends who are book-lovers - so not much help from there.
P.S: The bill has been passed. After my admission into some/any college, I'm going to join a 6 month course in reading-writing-speaking French after which I will join another course on English Accent Training.

@Sadiya:
Thanks for the suggestions. I found the Milan Kundera book in Flipkart here. http://www.flipkart.com/b/books/laughable-loves-milan-kundera-book-0571206921
@RedHanded: I've read Kite runner so I was thinking that 1000 splendid suns would be better. And thanks for the suggestions! I've ordered Shantaram already!
@Rajlakshmi: Thanks! I'm reading Lost Symbol. Maybe I'll read 1000 splendid suns later on.
@Sarah: Yeah that is exactly what my own sister said. I've read Brida and Alchemist, and oh! I love Paulo Coelho's writing style! My favorite was The Zahir.

My trip-to-the-bookstore yesterday got cancelled due to crazy rains, so this kind of makes me super jealous!
Anyway, Metamorphosis is totally weird and totally worth it; Thousand Splendid Suns is awesome(and I think it's better than the Kite Runner) and Life of Pi is like my most-read book after HP!
Catch-22 is a great book too, if you haven't already read it!!

I've been meaning to pick up Midnight's Children for a long time now. You should tell me how good it is when you read it. I hear it's way too complex but that shouldn't deter one from reading it I believe.
If you ask me I might end up listing a book-length inventory of to-reads, but anyway I will just suggest one title for now. It's called 'The Third Policeman' by Flann O'Brien. I haven't read it in its entirety yet, hoping to reopen it soon to read from where I left. I cuss time I don't have on hand. Just look the title up and see if you will actually like the premise, hoping you'd most likely like it.
Yeah, there's another one, but perhaps you would've read it. If you haven't, it's called 'Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World' by Haruki Murakami. It's Kafkaesque and more.
Have good reads!

@Priya:
You can always ask them to deliver it at home. They do that sometimes. Customer satisfaction is their top priority!
But you're the first one to say that Thousand Splendid Suns is actually better than Kite Runner(see comments above).
Catch-22? hmm! Must be real good because they have a word coined for that in english.
Thanks for the suggestions!
@Ahimaaz:
I googled the book that you suggested, and It seems really interesting. I'll try to find Hard-boiled wonderland and the End of the world - and I think I might like it because I like anything that is Kafkaesque!
Thanks for the suggestions! They were really good ones!

Ah! you lucky you! You are done with your exams! And look at that list! It's got me drooling now. Except lost symbol. Been there. Read that. Disappointing end

@Shrinkhla: Thanks for the suggestion! i'll see if i can get my hands on that!

I see many people reading 'Lost Symbol' on the local trains back here. Haven't come around to reading Forsyth's Cobra yet, need to soon.
Try Graham Green's "Brighton Rock" for a start. And the play, "Death Of A Salesman" by Miller. The "Death Of A Salesman" is a play, and a rivetting one at that.

@Anil P:
Thanks a lot for the suggestions! I'll try to get my hands on those!
